Day 1 – Homeport to Uluru

Your Outback adventure begins with a flight to Uluru. On arrival, you will be met and taken to your hotel.

Meet your Travel Director and travelling companions. Drive the short distance to dual World Heritage listed Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park, where sparkling wine is served at a Welcome Reception as you watch the sun set over Australia’s most renowned natural landmark. Witness the phenomenon of the changing colours on the massive sandstone monolith before returning to the comfort of your hotel for the night.

❱ Hotel stay: Desert Gardens Hotel, Ayers Rock Resort (2 nights)

Day 2 – Uluru Sunrise & Kata Tjuta (BL)

Rise early this morning to experience a majestic Red Centre sunrise. After a tour of the base of Uluru, you may like to take either a self-guided stroll or a guided walk to Mutitjulu Waterhole. Your Travel Director will explain the significance of the ancient Aboriginal rock paintings you’ll encounter. This afternoon’s journey takes you to superb Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), thirty-six magnificent domes of red-hued sedimentary rock.

Day 3 – Uluru to Kings Canyon (BD)

Leave Ayers Rock this morning to travel through a stark red desert landscape to awe-inspiring Kings Canyon, whose ancient red rock walls soar 100 metres above Kings Creek. The 6-kilometre walk around the rim of the canyon will reward you with marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. A shorter, more relaxed walk takes you along the sandy creek bed.

❱ Hotel stay: Kings Canyon Resort (1 night)

Day 4 – Kings Canyon to Alice Springs (B)

Travelling past vast cattle properties today, you’ll develop a true appreciation for the magnitude of the Australian outback. On arrival in Alice Springs visit the historic Telegraph Station, then drive to Anzac Hill for panoramic views over ‘The Alice’.

❱ Hotel stay: Mercure Alice Springs Resort (2 nights)

Day 5 – Alice Springs (BD)

After breakfast this morning, join a local Aboriginal guide to learn about the culture and traditions of the Arrernte People at Alice Springs Desert Park. Gain an insight into the endangered animals of the Red Centre, then visit the headquarters of the Royal Flying Doctor Service to see how this iconic facility provides emergency medical assistance in the outback. This evening, join the Falzon family at Earth Sanctuary World Nature Centre for a home-cooked Be My Guest barbecue dinner. Afterwards, hear from the Falzon brothers, Tom and Danny, about the sustainable lifestyle they have established.

Day 6 – Alice Springs to Tennant Creek (BD)

Visit the legendary School of the Air this morning, then travel north, stopping to view Karlu Karlu, an intriguing outcrop of precariously-balanced granite boulders. Your accommodation tonight is at the former gold-mining town of Tennant Creek.

❱ Hotel stay: Bluestone Motor Inn (1 night)

Day 7 – Tennant Creek to Katherine (BD)

Today you’ll travel further north, visiting the quirky Daly Waters Pub before continuing to Mataranka, where a swim in the warm, crystal-clear waters of the thermal springs is a must-do. Journey on to Katherine for the night.

❱ Hotel stay: Paraway Motel (1 night)

Day 8 – Katherine to Kakadu (BD)

This morning travel to Nitmiluk National Park and take a tranquil cruise along the spectacular Katherine Gorge. Then journey deep into Kakadu for a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong, famed for its stunning variety of birdlife and estuarine crocodiles.

❱ Hotel stay: Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel (1 night)

Day 9 – Kakadu to Darwin (B)

Cross the border into the Northern Territory and continue to dual World Heritage listed Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park. Sparkling wine is served this evening as you witness the sunset over Australia’s most renowned natural landmark.

❱ Hotel stay: Mantra on the Esplanade (2 nights)

Day 10 – Litchfield National Park (BD)

Travel to Litchfield National Park, pausing to examine the park’s amazing termite mounds. Stop to view Florence Falls, then venture on to Wangi Falls for an opportunity to swim in the large waterhole before heading back to Darwin. This evening, join your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Darwin Harbour Farewell Dinner Cruise.

Day 11 – Darwin to Homeport (B)

Sadly, today marks the end of your Outback adventure. You will be transferred to Darwin Airport in time for your flight home.
