Day 1 – Homeport to Melbourne (D)

Your adventure begins with a flight to Melbourne. On arrival, you will be met and taken to your hotel.

Take some time to yourself on your first day in Melbourne; discover one-of-a kind boutiques, relax in a café with the perfect espresso or seek out a rooftop bar. This evening, meet your Travel Director and fellow guests for an unforgettable icebreaker, 120m in the air on board the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel. You’ll be gifted with views of up to 40km across Melbourne before finding your feet in Docklands to dine harbourside at Berth Restaurant.

❱ 1 night: Sofitel Melbourne on Collins

Day 2 – Melbourne to Daylesford (BD)

Start the day in style with a sophisticated Sofitel breakfast at No. 35, with sweeping views of Collins Street and the CBD. With the expert guidance of a Melbourne local, you’ll soon be navigating the colourful maze of hidden laneways, surprising street art and historic arcades that are the pride of the city. Not forgetting Melbourne’s iconic café culture, you’ll try some of the best coffee in Australia before for we discover the delights of Daylesford. Originally settled by Swiss Italians, you’ll be transported to the 1850s as you explore Lavandula, one of Victoria’s most picturesque historic properties. European gardens frame the heritage farm buildings. Lavender, vegetable and herb gardens supply the alfresco Swiss Italian café, where you’ll take afternoon tea under the ash trees or in the stone loggia. Next, immerse yourself in the rejuvenating mineral baths of the Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa, a place of healing since 1895. Feeling entirely revitalised, we’ll be welcomed at the Peppers Mineral Springs Hotel, a luxurious 1930s retreat with an Italianate garden maze. We’ll dine in at The Argus, on seasonal vegetables from the kitchen garden along with outstanding wine and produce from the region’s family owned farms.

❱ 1 night: Peppers Mineral Springs

Day 3 – Daylesford to Dunkeld (BD)

Enjoy a relaxed start to the day, with free time to further explore Daylesford on foot before we move on towards Ballarat and family-owned Creswick Woollen Mills, the only remaining woollen spinning mill of its kind, still producing luxurious knitwear and homewares. Heading into the heart of Gold Rush country, we’ll wander the streets of Clunes, and the best collection of 19th century architecture in Australia. You’ll dive into the history of this tumultuous time at the Eureka Centre in Ballarat. Located on the site of the 1854 Eureka Stockade, you will learn about the men and women who risked their lives for miner’s rights and see one of Australia’s most revered cultural artefacts, The Eureka Flag. Further east towards The Grampians National Park, our home for the night is The Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld, designed to capture the beauty of the mountain range. The Hotel draws most of its produce from the Australia’s largest working kitchen garden, which is harvested daily alongside exclusive supplies of beef and lamb from the neighbouring farm. We’ll experience it for ourselves tonight at an exclusive dining experience in Parker St Project at the Royal Mail Hotel.

❱ 1 night: Royal Mail Hotel

Day 4 – Dunkeld to Warrnambool via Hall’s Gap (BD)

This morning, after breakfast, you’ll have the chance to take a guided tour with the resident gardener to learn more about the local flavours and produce from the previous nights’ dinner. We’ll then head into the Grampians National Park, a series of rugged sandstone mountain ranges and forests rich in wildlife. Gariwerd (the Aboriginal name for Grampians) is pivotal to many ancient indigenous stories and the region has the largest number of rock art sites in Southern Australia. You’ll be greeted by the traditional people of Gariwerd, the Djab Wurrung and Jardwidjari – and will learn about the six seasons of Gariwerd and how the lives of the local indigenous people have been intimately linked to this seasonal cycle for thousands of years. We’ll take our time, appreciating the spectacular natural rock formations, waterfalls and panoramic views, before heading down the mountain range to the coastal town of Warrnambool. The heart of the Shipwrecked Coast, we’ll visit Flagstaff Hill to remember these maritime stories over a Regional Dinner before the immersive Sound and Light Show, projected onto a wall of water.

❱ 1 night: Deep Blue Hotel & Hot Springs

Day 5 – Warrnambool to Lorne (B)

Make the most of your free time this morning and unwind in the hotel’s luxurious spa facilities, including an open-air sanctuary of naturally drawn hot spring rock pools, sensory caves and waterfalls for you to journey through and relax in. Feeling refreshed and relaxed from the mineral-rich waters, we head back on the road along the spectacular Southern Ocean coastline that makes up one of Australia’s most iconic road trips, The Great Ocean Road. Take in the inspiring vistas and keep your eyes open for little penguins as you stop at all the world-renowned vantage points including Loch Ard Gorge, The Bay of Islands, London Bridge and of course, the National Heritage listed Twelve Apostles. Witness the rugged splendour of these magnificent limestone stacks rising elegantly off the Victorian coastline as we head onward to the colourful and lively seaside village of Port Campbell. The adventurous spirits amongst you will be able to opt for a helicopter flight over the Twelve Apostles, or simply meander through the town and sample delicious goods from the plethora of local bakeries, browsing the artisan boutiques and galleries. Back en route, we’ll make a short stop in Apollo Bay before ending our exhilarating day in Lorne, just in time for you to choose a spot along the famous beachfront for dinner while you watch the sunset.

❱ 1 night: Cumberland Resort

Day 6 – Lorne to Mornington Peninsula (BLD)

Today we reach the last leg of our Great Ocean Road Trip and head onto the Victorian Surf Capital -Torquay. The birthplace of iconic surf brands such as Rip Curl and Quicksilver and home to the world-famous Bells Beach, Torquay is a mecca for Australian surf culture. It is only fitting that we visit the Australian Surfing Museum, to pay tribute to the pioneers of the sport. The rest of the morning is spent exploring the breezy Bellarine Peninsula on a tour of boutique, family owned wineries with breathtaking bay views. The highlight of our gourmet adventure will be a Be My Guest lunch at Jack Rabbit Winery, well known for its sustainably grown and harvested cool-climate vines that give a low yield of high-quality fruit, handpicked to ensure maximum integrity of varietal flavour. From Bellarine’s Queenscliff we’ll continue by ferry across the mouth of Port Phillip Bay to Sorrento on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Here, we’ll visit Greg, Sue and their two kelpies at the Green Olive farm for an authentic taste of farm life. Tonight, we dine as a group in this beautiful region and stay at the whimsically designed Jackalope Hotel, set on a private vineyard with shared spaces featuring enormous works of art.

❱ 1 night: Jackalope Hotel

Day 7 – Mornington Peninsula to Homeport via Melbourne (BL)

After breakfast this morning, we’ll wave goodbye to the enchanting coastline of southern Victoria and head back to Melbourne, but not without paying homage to the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. Nothing can match the tradition and heritage of this famous landmark, as you go behind the scenes of the world class facilities of the ‘G. Walk’ on the hallowed arena and experience where many legends have yelled “HOWZAT!” at the top of their lungs. Our final stop of this adventure will be a farewell lunch.
