Pre-Tour Arrangements for Interstate Travellers

Your adventure begins with a flight to the beautiful city of Adelaide. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure.

❱ 1 night: Mercure Grosvenor Hotel or similar

Day 1 / Friday 27 March: Adelaide to Portland via Meningie, Robe & Mount Gambier (BLD)

Adelaide travellers will be met at home and transferred to the Central Bus Station to join the tour. Interstate travellers will be picked up from the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel.

★ A delicious boxed breakfast will be provided to you as you travel aboard our luxurious air-conditioned motor coach from Adelaide.

Our journey today will take us along South Australia’s picturesque Limestone Coast, travelling along the Princes Highway past the coastal towns of Meningie, Kingston SE, Robe & Millicent on our way to the city of Mount Gambier.

★ We stop for a short break at ‘the Mount’ with time to look at the famous Blue Lake.

The lake occupies one of the craters of the extinct volcano after which the city named. It is renowned for its vibrant colours, changing from steel grey to cobalt blue each summer.

Later, we travel into Victoria and follow the edges of the Lower Glenelg National Park before arriving at Portland, Victoria’s first permanent settlement back in 1834. The town still has more the 200 19th century buildings many built by bluestone. Tonight, enjoy a delicious 3 course dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.

❱ 1 night: Econo Lodge

Day 2 / Saturday 28 March: Portland to Warrnambool via Port Fairy (BD)

A full English breakfast begins our day before we commence an exciting day of sightseeing in the attractive & historic city of Portland. First settled by the Henty family in 1850, this coastal gem has a number of highlights you will experience.

★ We board the historical cable tram which travels along the foreshore, visiting the original powerhouse which is now a museum as well as the Maritime Museum & the magnificent Portland Botanic Gardens.

After lunch, we travel along the coastal road via Port Fairy, arriving in Warrnambool in the mid-afternoon.

★ After dinner, we visit the Flagstaff Hill Maritime Museum to see the multi-million dollar Sound & Light Show.

Experience stories of Australia’s rich maritime history with tales of the Shipwreck Coast which will take you on a journey through the ages – from local Aboriginal stories to our colourful whaling past then to events that gave our coastline a reputation that inspired fear & trepidation among mariners.

❱ 1 night: Downtown Motel

Day 3 / Sunday 29 March: Great Ocean Road Touring – Warrnambool to Apollo Bay via the famous Twelve Apostles (BD)

After breakfast, we begin our journey along Victoria’s famous Great Ocean Road, one of the world’s scenic coastal drives.

★ Our first stop for today is at Allansford where you will enjoy a visit to the fascinating Cheese World.

Here, you will have the opportunity to taste some of the wonderful local cheese produced by Warrnambool Cheese & Butter.

We then continue on to Peterborough and into the Port Campbell National Park – be sure to have your camera handy for a shot of this spectacular coastline!

★ Here at Port Campbell, the famous Twelve Apostles which comprises of a group of magnificent rock stacks rising up from the Southern Ocean can be seen.

Take in the spectacular views from the scenic viewpoint or descend all of the 86 Gibson Steps to the wild beach for a stunning ground level view of all 8 of the remaining Twelve Apostles, stopping at lookouts along the way. Just beyond Port Campbell lies the hauntingly beautiful Bay of Islands where we can see the cove which was the site of the Loch Ard Shipwreck. In 1878, the Loch Ard Clipper struck land on Victoria’s notorious Shipwreck Coast, sinking completely in just 15 minutes, making it one of Australia’s most tragic shipwrecks.

Later, we continue on our journey along the Great Ocean Road, travelling via the Great Otway National Park to the famous coastal town of Apollo Bay for our overnight stay.

❱ 1 night: Best Western Apollo Bay

Day 4 / Monday 30 March: Great Ocean Road Touring – Apollo Bay to Hamilton via Wye River & Lorne (BD)

We begin our day with a leisurely drive along the famous Great Ocean Road via the towns which are dotted along the coastline.

★ We visit the famous Great Ocean Road Chocolatery & Ice Creamery in Bellbrae to sample their award-winning handmade chocolates & ice cream products.

Watch the art of chocolate making – from handcrafting to packing and be sure to check out the spectacular showroom filled with thousands of chocolates to tempt you!

Later, we continue via Wye River & the beautiful seaside town of Lorne before travelling inland via Colac to Hamilton.

❱ 1 night: Botanical Comfort Inn

Day 5 / Tuesday 31 March: Hamilton to Adelaide via the Coonawarra wine region (BL)

After breakfast, we set off from Hamilton to tour back to Adelaide.

★ We tour via the famous Coonawarra wine region, one of Australia’s most famous wine production areas.

We stop at Keith to collect our picnic lunch before continuing via Tailem Bend and back to Adelaide.

Adelaide travellers will be met on arrival at the Adelaide Central Bus Station and transferred home by chauffeured vehicle. Interstate travellers will be dropped off at the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel.

Post-Tour Arrangements for Interstate Travellers

You will be dropped off at your hotel in Adelaide for your overnight stay.

The next day, enjoy some time at leisure to explore Adelaide. Ask us about optional tours that are available today including day tours to the beautiful Adelaide Hills & of the famous Adelaide Central Market.

Later, a chauffeured car will take you to Adelaide Airport in time for your flight.
