Your adventure begins with a flight to the beautiful city of Adelaide. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure.
Ask us about a range of optional activities available or simply take a stroll along the newly redeveloped Riverbank precinct or go shopping at nearby Rundle Mall.
❱ 1 night: Grosvenor Hotel or similar
Adelaide travellers will be met at home and transferred to the Central Bus Station to join the tour. Interstate travellers will be picked up from the Grosvenor Hotel. A delicious boxed breakfast including hot rolls, pastries, fruit and drink will be provided on board as you travel aboard our luxurious air-conditioned motor coach from Adelaide. Our journey today will take us along South Australia’s picturesque Limestone Coast, travelling along the Princes Highway past the coastal towns of Meningie, Kingston SE & Millicent on our way to the city of Mount Gambier. This evening, enjoy a delicious welcome dinner at our hotel.
❱ 3 nights: Commodore on the Park
After breakfast, we begin a city sights tour which will include a visit to the extinct volcano which contains a lake which has now become known as the iconic ‘Blue Lake’. The lake changes from a dark steel grey colour to a brilliant turquoise in November for the entire summer.
After visiting the Visitor’s Centre, we visit the beautiful Sunken Garden of Mount Gambier. Here, the Umpherston Sinkhole has to be seen to be believed! Appreciate the size & depth of this amazing sinkhole from the viewing platforms before enjoying a light lunch in the gardens.
We then travel to the wharf to board a delightful 2 hour cruise on the scenic Glenelg River which includes a devonshire afternoon tea.
During the cruise, enjoy the wonderful beauty of the untouched waterways through the wilderness.
After our cruise, we tour to Port MacDonnell on the coast. This old crayfishing hamlet has a Maritime Museum featuring artifacts salvaged from the shipwrecks on the coast. The old lighthouse from the past still remains on the rocky shore. There may be time to visit the Old Hotel before we return back to our hotel in Mount Gambier for dinner.
After breakfast, we board our coach for our tour to the beautiful historic town of Robe. We begin our day with a visit to the unique Transmutation store. Here, you can see the plastic recycling workshop where plastic waste is turned into quality products that will last longer than the original products! Be sure to see the unique bowls that are crafted using over 1,870 breadtags!
We visit Sky Seafoods, Robe’s leading processor & exporter of live lobster & fish. Enjoy a factory tour, see lobsters in the tanks & learn about how they are processed live or cooked with a tour of the live lobster processing factory.
After lunch, enjoy a historic tour of Robe. See a variety of Robe’s historic buildings including the Customs House that was built in 1863 which is now home to a fascinating maritime museum. We then tour back to our hotel in Mount Gambier.
We travel through South Australia’s famous Coonawarra wine region to Penola. The Coonawarra is renowned for its rich, colourful wines. Its Cabernet Sauvignon is internationally renowned and its Shiraz isn’t far behind. The region’s Terra Rossa soil (red soil containing limestone) is perfect for grape growing.
Later, we continue to Naracoorte & Keith where we stop for lunch. After lunch, we continue to Coonalpyn & Tailem Bend before arriving back in Adelaide. Adelaide travellers will be met on arrival at the Adelaide Central Bus Station and transferred home by chauffeured vehicle.
Stay the night on return to Adelaide and fly home the following day.
On our tour’s return to Adelaide, you will be taken to your hotel in the city centre. The next day, enjoy some time at leisure to explore Adelaide. Ask us about optional tours that are available today. Later, you will be transferred to the airport in time for your flight.
