Pre-Tour Arrangements for Interstate Travellers

Your adventure begins with a flight to the beautiful city of Adelaide. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure.

❱ 1 night: Mercure Grosvenor Hotel or similar

Day 1: Adelaide to Mildura via the South Australian Riverland, Murray River Dinner Cruise (D)

Adelaide travellers will be met at home and transferred to the Central Bus Station to join the tour. Interstate travellers will be picked up from their hotel.

★ Our holiday begins with a journey through the picturesque South Australian Riverland.

There will be time to enjoy morning tea before we continue to Renmark, the main town in the Riverland.

After a break for lunch, cross the Murray River and later the Border into Victoria. We arrive in Mildura in the mid-afternoon and check into our accommodation.

Mildura was originally established as the first irrigation colony in Victoria. Due to the hot dry climate, Mildura mainly relies on its water supply from the Murray River.

The city is noted for its wide Boulevards and numbered streets which is a legacy from its founder W. B. Chaffey, who was invited to Mildura by the Victorian Government to establish a network of water channels to begin fruit growing in the area.

★ This evening, enjoy a relaxing evening dinner cruise aboard the Paddle Vessel Rothbury, cruising upstream from Mildura while enjoying a spit roast carvery dinner.

Live entertainment is provided giving patrons the opportunity to dance if they choose, or to merely sit back and enjoy the tranquil floodlit river banks created by the PV Rothbury’s powerful floodlights.

After arrival back at the Wharf, we tour back to our hotel for our overnight stay.

❱ 1 night: Boulevard Motor Inn

Day 2: Mildura to Broken Hill via Mungo National Park (BLD)

After breakfast, we cross the Murray River into New South Wales then take the road to the Mungo National Park.

★ Visit the Interpretive Centre and learn of the dreamtime period as well as see the amazing evidence of ancient camp fires & fossils which are among the 40,000 relics that have been discovered here.

In 1974, the discovery of remains which have become known as the ‘Mungo Man’ created worldwide interest. The bones which have been dated as 62,000 years old have completely changed the original theory on the evolution of mankind.

Later, we visit a historic shearing shed made from local pine, put together without the use of a single nail! We continue to Wentworth for lunch, a township build on the junction of the Murray & Darling Rivers.

★ Here, you will witness the junction of 2 of Australia’s largest rivers – the Murray & Darling Rivers.

We then travel to the Silver City of Broken Hill and check into our accommodation.

❱ 2 nights: Desert Sand Motor Inn

Day 3: Broken Hill Discovery (BD)

★ After breakfast, we begin a relaxing tour of the famous Australian city of Broken Hill.

This city has possibly the most amazing history of any other Australian city. The immense wealth of the mines and the birthplace of Australia’s largest company BHP as well as its union history & ‘Brushmen of the Bush’ are just part of the Broken Hill story.

★ We visit the Pro Hart Gallery which is a treasure trove of amazing exhibits.

Works from the late master artist himself as well as art by legendary artists such as Money, Constable & Sir William Dobell can be seen in a collection of incredible memorabilia.

We then visit the Silver City Mint & Art Centre and stop for lunch.

★ Later, we set off to Australia’s most famous ghost town, Silverton.

On our tour, you will learn about Silverton and the original township’s history as the first settlement in the area. The town is kept busy by film crews & movie makers as well as visitors. The Old Silverton Hotel is of interest.

We return to our accommodation in Broken Hill for dinner.

Day 4: Broken Hill to Adelaide (B)

It’s farewell to our hosts as we depart after breakfast. We travel via the Barrier Highway to Adelaide today.

★ Our tour takes us via the outpost of Yunta before travelling through South Australia’s mid north.

We pass the once wealthy farming towns and abandoned watering posts for the old steam trains on our way back to Adelaide.

Adelaide travellers will be met on arrival at the Adelaide Central Bus Station and transferred home by chauffeured vehicle. Interstate travellers will be dropped off at their hotel.

Post-Tour Arrangements for Interstate Travellers

You will be dropped off at your hotel in Adelaide for your overnight stay.

The next day, enjoy some time at leisure to explore Adelaide. Ask us about optional tours that are available today including day tours to the beautiful Adelaide Hills & of the famous Adelaide Central Market.
