Day 1 – Homeport to Christchurch

Your New Zealand adventure begins with a flight across the Tasman Sea to Christchurch. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 – Christchurch (D)

Enjoy a day for relaxing or exploring. Perhaps take a leisurely stroll along the banks of the picturesque Avon River. This evening your holiday begins with a Welcome Reception and dinner with your Travel Director and fellow travellers.

Day 3 – Christchurch to Franz Josef Glacier, TranzAlpine Train(BD)

Board the iconic TranzAlpine train for one the world’s great rail journeys. Pass through the lush pastureland of the Canterbury Plains to the rugged gorges and ice-fed streams and lakes of the Southern Alps. Alight at Arthur’s Pass and continue to Hokitika, home of New Zealand’s famous greenstone. Continue to Franz Josef Glacier (optional scenic flight available).

Day 4 – Franz Josef Glacier to Queenstown (B)

Drive over the spectacular Haast Pass, passing the 96-metre Thunder Creek Falls, and serene Lakes Wanaka, Hawea and Dunstan. Stop at the town of Cromwell and enjoy delicious stone fruit. Next you’ll visit the historic gold mining settlement of Arrowtown, where over 70 buildings from the gold-rush era are still beautifully preserved, before arriving in Queenstown for an orientation tour of the town, which sits on the shore of crystal-clear Lake Wakatipu.

Day 5 – Free Time in Queenstown (BD)

Explore New Zealand’s adventure capital today. There are jet boat rides for thrill-seekers, and wine tours or intimate cafés for a more leisurely rhythm. Enjoy a peaceful cruise this evening across Lake Wakatipu aboard the TSS Earnslaw to Walter Peak High Country Farm for a gourmet barbecue Highlight Dinner and an entertaining after-dinner show offering glimpses of high-country farm life.

Day 6 – Queenstown to Te Anau via Milford Sound (BD)

Travel the highway known as the Devil’s Staircase and along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to the town of Te Anau. On your journey to Milford Sound you’ll be awestruck by the native rainforests and rugged mountains of Fiordland National Park. Your cruise on the Sound takes in cascading waterfalls, hanging glacial valleys, and towering Mitre Peak. Return to lakeside Te Anau, where this evening you’ll have the option of visiting the Te Anau Glowworm Caves (own expense).

Day 7 – Te Anau to Dunedin (BD)

Journey through lush green sheepgrazing country on your way to Dunedin this morning. The afternoon is yours to enjoy as you please. Sit back and relax, ride the historic Taieri Gorge Railway, or take a wildlife cruise to spot penguins and Royal Albatross.

Day 8 – Dunedin to Omarama (BD)

You have the opportunity to visit Larnach Castle (own expense) before setting out for historic Oamaru, with its celebrated white limestone buildings. Later, pass the monumental Waitaki Hydro Power Scheme and Benmore Dam on your way to Omarama.

Day 9 – Omarama to Christchurch (B)

Journey through the awe-inspiring Aoraki Mt. Cook National Park this morning (an optional scenic flight is available). See majestic Lakes Pukaki and Tekapo, and stop to view the famous Church of the Good Shepherd. Later, traverse the fertile Canterbury Plains to Christchurch, a vibrant city known for its English heritage.

Day 10 – Christchurch to Picton (BD)

Travel along the rugged Pacific Ocean coast this morning to Kaikoura, where sperm whales can often be seen not far from shore (an optional whalewatching flight is available). Pass the pink-tinged crystallisation ponds of the Lake Grassmere Salt Works, then travel to the pretty seaside village of Picton.

Day 11 – Picton to Wellington (BD)

Cruise tranquil Queen Charlotte Sound, then cross the Cook Strait to Wellington, on the North Island. Take a city tour before enjoying some free time, and later visit Te Papa Museum of New Zealand, where you’ll have time to explore fascinating exhibits.

Day 12 – Wellington to Rotorua (B)

Travel along the scenic Kapiti Coast through lush dairy-farming country to Tongariro National Park and snowcapped Mt. Ruapehu. Panoramic views of Lake Taupo, the largest lake in Australasia, will unfold around every corner. View mighty Huka Falls and pass the Wairakei Geothermal Power Station. Later relax or explore Rotorua independently.

Day 13 – Rotorua (BD)

This morning, experience the multiawarding- winning Agrodome Farm Show. Later relax or explore Rotorua at your own pace. Perhaps visit Rainbow Springs Nature Park, to observe the native fauna of New Zealand including the country’s iconic kiwi. Another option is Te Puia thermal reserve. Enjoy an evening of fun and laughter and gain an insight into traditional Māori culture followed by a delicious Hangi Highlight Dinner at the Tamaki Māori Village.

Day 14 – Rotorua to Auckland (BD)

This morning explore the Waitomo Glowworm Grotto by boat, and walk through towering limestone caverns. Later you’ll follow the noble Waikato, New Zealand’s longest river, into Auckland. Take an orientation tour of New Zealand’s largest city before joining your Travel Director for a special dinner to toast your journey through New Zealand.

Day 15 – Auckland (B)

Enjoy a full day at leisure to take in the sights of Auckland. We recommend taking the ferry ride across to Devonport to enjoy a relaxing day on the beach, or travelling across to the wine region of Waiheke Island. Alternatively, you can choose to spend a day travelling to Matamata for a guided tour of the famous Hobbiton Movie Set.

Day 16 – Auckland (B)

Enjoy another day at leisure to take in the sights of Auckland – the City of Sails.

Day 17 – Board the Queen Elizabeth (BD)

Make your way to Auckland’s cruise terminal after breakfast to board the luxurious Queen Elizabeth. As the youngest Queen in the Cunard fleet, Queen Elizabeth evokes the heyday of Hollywood glamour and elegance. Her wood panelling, gleaming chandeliers, marble flooring and beautiful decorative touches exude luxury.

Day 18 – Bay of Islands (BLD)

Spend the day exploring New Zealand’s picturesque Bay of Islands region. You may choose to relax on the region’s beautiful beaches, learn about New Zealand’s history at the Waitangi Treaty Grounds or visit the historic town of Russell.

Days 19 to 21 – At sea (BLD)

Enjoy 3 days at sea to enjoy some of the many activities available onboard the Queen Elizabeth as you sail across the Tasman Sea to Melbourne.

Day 22 – Melbourne (BLD)

Explore the beautiful city of Melbourne today. Your ship will be docked at Port Melbourne, with transfers available to take you to the city centre. Spend the day shopping, indulging in Melbourne’s famous cafe culture or exploring the city’s sights.

Day 23 – At sea (BLD)

Relax onboard the luxurious Queen Elizabeth as you sail around the south coast towards Adelaide.

Day 24 – Arrive in Adelaide (B)

Arrive in the city of Adelaide in beautiful South Australia this morning. After breakfast, disembark your ship and be met with a transfer. Adelaide travellers will be transferred to their home (within 30km of Adelaide city centre). Interstate travellers will be transferred to Adelaide Airport in time for your flight home.

These are based on Air New Zealand ‘Q’ Class Economy airfares from Adelaide, Qantas ‘L’ Class Economy airfares from Sydney, and Virgin Australia ‘E’ Class Economy airfares from all other cities, and are subject to availability at the time of your booking confirmation.
  • The following fees apply for cancellations made once your booking is confirmed:
    After deposit is received – loss of deposit;
    31 to 90 days before departure – 50% of total booking value plus deposit;
    Within 30 days of departure – 100% of total booking value.
