Day 1 – Depart Australia (LD)

Your journey begins with a flight from Australia to Hong Kong. Later today, board your connecting Swiss flight from Hong Kong to Zurich.

Day 2 – Arrive in Munich (B)

Arrive in Zurich this morning and board your connecting Swiss flight aboard the brand new Airbus A220 to Munich.

Welcome to Bavaria! Enjoy an afternoon at leisure to explore the city of Munich. You may wish to join a walking tour of the city or discover more about the city’s history on a Third Reich Walking Tour.

Day 3 – Frühlingsfest (Springfest), Munich (B)

Spend a day at Frühlingsfest, Munich’s celebration of spring. Known as Little Oktoberfest, Springfest features the same big, strong German beers, delicious food and festive atmosphere. Springfest attracts thousands of beer-loving partiers, mainly from Munich & the rest of Germany. Taste the world’s best beer-drinking food, go on carnival rides and shop at the huge flea market. It truly is a fun day out!

Day 4 – Day trip to Neuschwanstein & Linderhof Castles (B)

Witness the fairy tale castles of Neuschwanstein and Linderhof, created by Germany’s 19th-century King Ludwig II, on a day trip from Munich. Admire Bavaria’s magnificent scenery as you journey to Linderhof, Ludwig’s rococo-style hunting lodge and last home. Join an optional interior tour and then continue to Neuschwanstein, a picture book clutch of turrets and chambers that inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle. Enjoy free time in nearby Hohenschwangau village for lunch and to explore Neuschwanstein’s grounds, and take an optional castle tour.

Day 5 – Munich to Nuremberg (B)

Travel by rail to the historic city of Nuremberg, Bavaria’s second largest city. The city is filled with architectural wonders and was a magnet for famous artists. View the city’s reconstructed main buildings including the castle and old churches in the Altstadt.

Day 6 – Nuremberg to Hamburg, Elbphilharmonie (B)

Depart Nuremberg by rail this morning and travel to Hamburg. After checking into your hotel, enjoy some free time to explore the city’s historic centre and fascinating Speicherstadt warehouse district.

Tonight, visit the city’s newest landmark, the Elbphilharmonie – an impressive concert venue that towers above the Elbe & HafenCity.

Day 7 – Airbus Factory Tour & Miniatur Wunderland, Hamburg (B)

Visit the Airbus aircraft factory this morning for a fascinating guided tour. Walk along the component assembly & final assembly lines for the popular Airbus A320 narrowbody aircraft and enjoy a bus tour through the Airbus site, travelling past the production sites of the Airbus A330, A350 & A380 aircraft. Depending on production activity, you may also get a look inside the Airbus A380 fuselage assembly area.

Later today, visit Miniatur Wunderland, the world’s largest model railway featuring miniature versions of Central Germany, Knuffingen, Austria, Hamburg, USA, Scandinavia, Switzerland, Venice, Monaco and the newest addition – Italy! You’ll also marvel at Knuffingen Airport, the most fascinating section of Wunderland featuring realistic air traffic that took over 6 years and 4 million Euros to build.

Day 8 – Hamburg to Berlin (B)

Travel by rail from Hamburg to Berlin this morning before enjoying an afternoon walking tour of Berlin’s city centre. Discover notable sights such as the Brandenburg Gate, learn about the destructive split of the city at the site of the Berlin Wall, and see Checkpoint Charlie – an allied crossing point at the former border. Stand above Hitler’s bunker and hear of the devastating effect of the Third Reich before some time for reflection at the emotive Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe.

Day 9 – ILA Berlin Air Show (B)

Spend a day at the famous ILA Berlin Air Show. Held every 2 years, the show is one of the world’s largest for the aerospace industry. Explore the extensive static aircraft display and watch the flying displays held throughout the day. The ILA Berlin Air Show showcases over 200 modern & historic aircraft, with past aircraft including the Airbus A380 and the giant Antonov 225 – be sure to take your camera!

Day 10 – ILA Berlin Air Show or day tour to Potsdam (B)

Spend a second day at the ILA Berlin Air Show – a perfect opportunity to get more great aviation photos.

Alternatively, you may choose to take a day tour to Potsdam. Discover the palaces and parks of Potsdam, one of Europe’s most enchanting places. Your guide educates you on this former home to kings, emperors and commissars as you travel through the years. Absorb the city’s fascinating history and relax in its lush green spaces.

Day 11 – Berlin (B)

Enjoy a morning at leisure to explore more of Berlin. This afternoon, enjoy a tour of historic Tempelhof Airport, one of Europe’s most spectacular buildings. Tempelhof was one of the main hubs of the Berlin Airlift and a landmark of the Third Reich. It is an expression of Nazi ideology and served in World War II as a weapons production site using forced labour. Later, Tempelhof became a symbol of freedom, and the Air Lift of 1948/49 made the airport famous throughout the world. During the division of Germany, the airport was the gateway to freedom for many people.

Day 12 – Berlin to Toulouse (B)

Depart Berlin early this morning and fly across to Toulouse. The rest of your day is at leisure to explore the city.

Day 13 – Day tour to Carcassone (B)

Spend a day in Carcassone, a must-see when travelling to France. You’ll be amazed by the old stones & history of the largest fortified city in Europe.

Day 14 – Airbus Factory & Aeroscopia Museum (BD)

This morning, visit the Airbus factory for a fascinating insight into the Airbus production facilities. Visit the Telemetry Room and watch a presentation of the A380 program and its certification (first flight & test) campaigns. Then, head over to the J.L. Langadere Plant and enjoy a view over the interior stations and exterior general testing stations from a belvedere built into the plant. You’ll also enjoy a detailed presentation of the A380 presentation process. Later, see the interior of an Airbus A400M and discover the various missions of a military aircraft for transport and in-flight refuelling. The A400M visited is MSN1, the very first aircraft that was used for flight tests.

Later today, you’ll visit the Aeroscopia Museum and see a range of aircraft including a replica Bleriot XI, Airbus A300B, Aero Spacelines Super Guppy SGT 201 and 2 Concordes.

Day 15 – Depart Toulouse, Stopover in Frankfurt (BD)

After breakfast, travel to Toulouse Blagnac Airport for your flight to Frankfurt. On arrival, you’ll enjoy a unique behind-the-scenes tour of Frankfurt Airport, one of the world’s busiest airports. Travel past the terminals and experience a wide diversity of aircraft & airlines. Watch aircraft take off & land, watch aircraft get refuelled and visit CargoCity South, Lufthansa’s giant Airbus A380 hangar and the construction site of Frankfurt Airport’s future Terminal 3. You’ll also get a chance to visit the Northwest Runway and get a look at the firefighter training center.

Later today, depart Frankfurt on your Lufthansa flight to Hong Kong, travelling aboard a spacious Airbus A340-600 aircraft.

Day 16 – In Transit (LD)

Arrive in Hong Kong today on your flight from Frankfurt. Later today, depart on your connecting flight back to Australia.

Day 17 – Arrive Australia (B)

Arrive back in Australia this morning.
