Cruise along the picturesque Murray River Sit back and relax as we take you on a journey down the picturesque Murray River to discover this unique part of the Australian landscape. Get up close and personal with nature and her unique birdlife – enjoy the entertaining Raptor feeding from the vessel and the flora and fauna of the riverbanks viewed through the panoramic windows or from the surrounding deck. Learn about the heritage and history of Mannum, the birthplace of the Australian paddle steamer and Australia’s first car. Delicious 2-course lunch Indulge in a delicious 2-course lunch at the Mannum Community Club, included as part of your exciting day on the Murray River.

Just an hour east of Adelaide’s city centre, Mannum is a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Once an important river port, Mannum is now a popular holiday town that is renowned for its easy access to the Murray River as well as its extensive parks and numerous river-based attractions. Mannum is known as the “birthplace of the paddle steamer” – the first ship (a side-wheel paddle steamer) was built on the Murray River and launched here by William Randell in 1852. Mannum’s shipbuilding industry then continued into the 20th century.
The Murray River which flows through Mannum is one of Australia’s longest rivers at 2,508km! The river rises in the Australian Alps near the border of New South Wales and Victoria and meanders across inland plains into South Australia. It turns south at Morgan for its final 315km past Mannum and Murray Bridge, reaching the eastern edge of Lake Alexandrina. As part of your tour you will experience a 1 ½ hour scenic cruise on the picturesque Murray River from Mannum with commentary on the river’s unique birdlife, flora and fauna.
Onboard morning tea and lunch at the Mannum Community Club is also included. The club is a great venue located in the heart of Mannum with extensive views over the Murray River.
On the return journey to the City, we visit Melba’s, a local, handcrafted chocolate factory in a venue reminiscent of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It’s an enjoyable stop to watch the treats being made and an opportunity for you to stock up on local supplies. Enjoy Melba’s choccies and explore some of the beautiful giftware range.
We can also organise a special group pick up from most locations across Adelaide for groups, including departures from retirement villages. Ask us for more details.
